Mercedes-AMG could reveal its first ground-up electric GT SUV on October 17, 2026, according to reports. The world premiere is expected to take place at The 140 Festival in Stuttgart, an event staged by the Mercedes-Benz Museum, with early customer deliveries reportedly following in 2027.

Neither the reveal date nor the delivery timing has been officially confirmed by Mercedes-AMG. Tarantas cites October 17 for the debut, while reports point to the beginning of 2027 for initial market availability without naming a firm delivery month.

AMG’s first clean-sheet electric SUV

The vehicle is expected to be Mercedes-AMG’s first independently developed SUV rather than a modified version of an existing donor model. AMG announced plans for a large electric “super-SUV” in November 2024, positioning it above the current EQE and EQS SUVs.

The SUV will reportedly become the second model based on AMG.EA, the dedicated electric architecture created for AMG performance vehicles. Production is expected at Mercedes-Benz’s Sindelfingen plant, which has already been converted for electric vehicle assembly. That would move production away from Affalterbach, the traditional home of AMG products.

Prototype sightings have suggested advanced chassis technology, but Mercedes-AMG has not released detailed suspension or steering specifications. Those components will be central to defining how the taller, heavier SUV translates the brand’s performance focus into an electric format.

AMG.EA platform and expected powertrain

The electric GT SUV is expected to share its core technology with the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe, the first AMG.EA model. That sedan has been revealed but has not yet entered the market.

The range-topping GT 63 4-Door is quoted with 1,153 horsepower and up to 1,475 pound-feet of torque. It also uses an 800-volt electrical system, a 106-kilowatt-hour battery and DC fast charging with peak power above 600 kilowatts at suitable stations.

AMG has not confirmed that the SUV will match those figures. Reports instead describe a tri-motor electric SUV coupe layout expected to use the same axial-flux YASA motor concept, directly cooled battery cells and 800-volt architecture as the four-door.

What the October reveal could clarify

The debut should establish whether AMG’s full-size electric SUV will retain the performance positioning of its combustion-powered models while expanding into a larger luxury-SUV segment. Key unanswered questions include final output, battery capacity, charging performance, real-world range, pricing and the pace of production ramp-up.

If the reported schedule holds, the October 2026 event will mark AMG’s next major step in its transition to dedicated electric performance vehicles. The first customer cars are currently expected at the beginning of 2027, pending confirmation from Mercedes-AMG.
