Bentley will reveal the Torcal, its first electric vehicle and fourth model line, at 19:19 on September 23. The hand-built electric SUV is being prepared for production at a new line inside the automaker’s Crewe headquarters, part of a £350 million (about $472 million) self-funded investment across the site.

The Torcal will join the Continental GT family, Flying Spur and Bentayga in Bentley’s Crewe-built lineup. While the company has not yet released the SUV’s full specifications, pricing or driving range, the September 23 presentation is expected to provide those details.

Hand-built production at Crewe

Bentley is installing the Torcal line inside a factory building that dates to 1938. The space originally operated as a machining shop and later served as the company’s research and development workshop before being cleared for vehicle assembly.

The production area features a precisely leveled floor for autonomous guided vehicles. These vehicles will move partially assembled Torcals between workstations as employees complete the hand-built electric SUV. Bentley says the line is nearing completion ahead of the reveal.

The new facility reinforces Bentley’s approach of keeping design, engineering and assembly at Crewe. The company has occupied the site for 80 years, and more than 4,000 people work there. The campus covers 521,111 square meters, including 166,930 square meters of indoor space.

British design and materials

The Torcal is among the first Bentley vehicles to benefit from the company’s new design studio, which opened at Crewe in 2025. The studio occupies another renovated 1938 building and houses the teams working on future Bentley models and Mulliner bespoke commissions.

Bentley is also highlighting the SUV’s British supply chain. Fox Brothers, a Somerset textile mill, supplies the wool used in the Torcal’s cabin. The automaker has not identified its other suppliers.

The interior was designed at Crewe, and earlier previews have shown a curved center screen. Bentley’s Mulliner division also builds hand-beaten continuation models at the site, including the Speed Six.

What the reveal should confirm

The September 23 event will establish how Bentley positions the Torcal within its range and provide the key information missing from the previews. Pricing and range will be especially important indicators of where the electric SUV sits in Bentley’s lineup.

The model represents a major expansion of Crewe’s capabilities, combining hand assembly with autonomous guided vehicles and a dedicated electric-vehicle production line. Bentley’s £350 million investment also ties the Torcal closely to the company’s British manufacturing base and local supplier network.
