Alfa Romeo has unveiled the 33 Stradale Perla Nera, a one-off commission finished entirely in bare, matte carbon fiber. The darkest car in the 33-unit production run, the Black Pearl is on display at the Alfa Romeo Museum in Arese until October 18 before it is delivered to its owner.

Perla Nera is the first commission created through Bottega Alfa Romeo, the brand’s in-house atelier for bespoke builds. The project took roughly three years and began with an owner’s request for a 33 Stradale without conventional paint covering its carbon-fiber body.

Hand-laid carbon fiber defines the exterior

Unlike every other 33 Stradale, Perla Nera leaves the carbon shell exposed from nose to tail. Alfa Romeo’s technicians positioned the fibers by hand inside the molds, shaping the weave to follow the body rather than applying a standard pattern.

The hood carries a V-shaped motif, while a herringbone design extends from the nose over the roof. The treatment recalls the carbon-fiber detailing used on the Ferrari Enzo, but here the exposed material itself serves as the car’s finish.

Alfa Romeo also removed most of the exterior badging. Only the front emblem and rear Alfa Romeo script remain visible, while black wheels reinforce the monochrome look. According to the automaker, eliminating the paint reduces weight by about 22 pounds compared with painted 33 Stradale examples.

Same 620-hp twin-turbo V6

The unusual finish does not change the 33 Stradale’s mechanical package. Perla Nera uses a longitudinally mounted twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 producing 620 horsepower and 538 pound-feet of torque. Power reaches the wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Alfa Romeo quotes a run to 62 mph in less than three seconds and a top speed near 207 mph. The modest weight reduction is therefore an added detail to a car that already uses the same high-output powertrain as the rest of the limited run.

Bespoke interior completes the commission

Inside, Alcantara covers nearly the entire cabin. The front seats were shaped specifically for the owner, and the redesigned headrest includes a carbon insert carrying the “Perla Nera” designation.

The Quadrifoglio and Autodelta symbols are placed inside the cabin rather than on the exterior. Cristiano Fiorio, general manager of Bottegafuoriserie, said the car demonstrates how a customer’s vision can be combined with the skills of Alfa Romeo’s bespoke team.

With just one example in the 33-car series, Perla Nera turns the carbon weave into the defining design feature. Its museum display gives visitors a limited window to see the commission before it leaves Arese for private ownership.
