Kia has simplified the 2027 K5 lineup by eliminating the EX trim, leaving the LXS, GT-Line, and GT as the sedan’s only grades. Pricing announced by Kia America on September 22 starts at $27,690 for the front-wheel-drive LXS before destination, keeping the K5 below $28,000 on its base sticker.

With Kia’s $1,245 destination charge included, the entry price rises to $28,935 before taxes. That is $200 more than the outgoing model. The revised lineup gives buyers a clearer choice between basic transportation, added styling and all-wheel-drive availability, or outright performance.

2027 Kia K5 pricing and trims

The LXS opens the range at $27,690 before destination and uses a 2.5-liter engine producing 186 horsepower and 179 pound-feet of torque. Those figures carry over unchanged.

  • LXS: $27,690 with front-wheel drive, before destination
  • GT-Line: $28,690 with front-wheel drive
  • GT-Line AWD: $30,290, including the $1,600 all-wheel-drive premium
  • GT: $33,790 before destination

The GT-Line retains the LXS powertrain, meaning its higher price is tied to styling and equipment rather than additional output. The range-topping GT costs $6,100 more than the LXS and adds a turbocharged engine rated at 290 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque.

Turbo power, but no K5 hybrid

The GT remains the choice for buyers who want the K5’s strongest performance, while the GT-Line is the only grade offering available all-wheel drive. None of the three 2027 trims includes a hybrid powertrain.

That leaves the K5 at a disadvantage against the Toyota Camry, which offers a hybrid powertrain across its lineup. Kia already sells hybrid versions of US-market SUVs including the Sportage, Sorento, and Niro, but the K5 sedan is not joining them for the 2027 model year.

Kia’s long-term investor roadmap outlines plans for a K5 hybrid around 2027, although the current US-market sedan arrives without one. The omission keeps the K5 focused on conventional power and value while rivals increasingly use electrification to target fuel-conscious midsize-sedan buyers.

What the simplified lineup means

Removing the EX gives the K5 a three-step structure: LXS for buyers seeking the lowest price, GT-Line for appearance and available all-wheel drive, and GT for turbocharged performance. Kia has used a similarly streamlined approach with the K4 hatchback.

The K5 posted its best sales month ever in August 2026, according to the source material, giving Kia little immediate reason to make a larger pricing or powertrain change before the next redesign. The 2027 model reaches dealers with a modest price increase, a tighter trim walk, and the same turbocharged GT at the top of the range.
