BMW has opened orders for the 2027 iX3 50 xDrive, its first model built around the Neue Klasse design and technology direction. The electric crossover starts at $62,850 and offers up to 434 miles of range, with US deliveries scheduled to begin September 25.

That range figure makes the iX3 one of the most significant long-distance electric vehicles in BMW’s lineup. It is dependent on the selected wheels and tires, however, so buyers will need to balance maximum range against appearance and equipment when configuring the crossover.

Powertrain and charging performance

The iX3 50 xDrive uses two electric motors that produce a combined 463 horsepower and 476 pound-feet of torque. BMW says the all-wheel-drive crossover can accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 4.7 seconds.

Charging performance is also a major part of the new model’s appeal. With a suitable charger, the iX3 can add up to 185 miles of range in 10 minutes. A 10-to-80-percent recharge takes 21 minutes under the specified conditions.

Wheel and tire choices affect range

The maximum EPA range of 434 miles is available with 20-inch wheels and summer tires, which are offered at no extra cost. The standard 20-inch all-season setup reduces the maximum range to 393 miles.

The figures show how strongly wheel and tire selection can influence the iX3’s usable range. Buyers prioritizing road-trip distance will likely want the standard-size summer-tire configuration, while the larger wheels trade some efficiency for a different look.

Standard equipment and available packages

Every iX3 includes BMW’s new cabin layout, including Panoramic Vision, a display positioned at the base of the windshield. A floating central screen runs the latest BMW operating system. Wireless charging, ambient lighting, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also standard.

Standard driver-assistance equipment includes active blind-spot detection, lane-keep assist, forward collision mitigation and adaptive cruise control. BMW offers a $1,500 Comfort Package with a heated steering wheel, multifunction seats and a panoramic sunroof. The sunroof can be deleted from the package.

The $2,500 Driving Assistance Professional Package adds Highway and Commuting Assistant, Traffic Jam Assistant and Active Lane Change with Eye Activation. The $2,500 M Sport Package brings a sport steering wheel, distinctive wheels and additional interior and exterior trim, while the $4,000 M Sport Professional Package adds M Sport brakes, an M Sport wheel and exterior glow lighting.

Other options include the $750 Parking Assistance Package, a $1,900 Technology Package with a 3D head-up display, Harman/Kardon audio and exterior lighting, and a $750 trailer hitch. Individual options include heated rear seats for $500, perforated Merino leather for $1,500, a heated steering wheel for $200 and Harman/Kardon audio for $650.

Ordering and availability

US customers can configure the 2027 BMW iX3 50 xDrive and place an order with a $1,000 deposit. The crossover launches in the United States on September 25, with pricing starting at $62,850 before optional equipment.
