BMW has raised the starting price of its new electric iX3 in Germany by €2,000, just months after opening order books and before the first customer deliveries. The second-generation electric SUV now starts at €70,900, up from the original €68,900 price announced at its September 2025 debut.

Customers who already placed orders have retained the original price. BMW has not given a reason for the increase, but the change arrives as demand for the new iX3 appears especially strong in Europe. Production is reportedly nearly sold out for the whole of 2026, with the automaker moving faster to increase output at its new Debrecen plant in Hungary.

BMW iX3 price and availability

The new German price applies to the iX3 50 xDrive, currently the only version offered. The electric SUV is scheduled to reach its first customers starting in March, making the price adjustment notable because regular deliveries have not yet begun.

The iX3 will go on sale in North America this summer, but BMW has not finalized US pricing. The company has indicated that the same 50 xDrive version will cost “around $60,000.” Because BMW has not published an exact US starting price, it remains unclear whether the German increase signals a similar adjustment for the US market.

Germany is also rolling out electric-car subsidies of up to €6,000, potentially helping soften the effect of the higher list price for eligible buyers. However, the iX3 now sits close to the new electric Mercedes GLC, which starts at €71,281 before options in Germany.

Future iX3 powertrains and trims

BMW plans to expand the iX3 range beyond the current dual-motor 50 xDrive. A less expensive iX3 40 with a single motor and rear-wheel drive is scheduled to launch in Europe later this year. North American availability is planned for early 2027, and BMW may also offer a 40 xDrive with all-wheel drive.

Performance versions are also in development. BMW has not formally announced them, but an M Performance model is expected to arrive in Europe later this year and could be called the iX3 M60. It would sit below a full M version related to the quad-motor electric M3 sedan teased for 2027.

What the price increase means

The early adjustment gives BMW more room to capitalize on strong demand, particularly while production is being expanded with a second shift at Debrecen earlier than originally planned. For buyers who have not ordered, however, the iX3 now costs substantially more than it did when order books opened.

The US launch should clarify whether BMW’s “around $60,000” estimate remains accurate. For now, the first production vehicles are expected to reach customers in March, while additional iX3 variants will follow in Europe and North America over the next two years.
