Mercedes-Benz has opened US order books for the 2027 G 580 Electric, bringing a higher starting price and a more useful charging setup to its all-electric G-Class. The SUV now starts at $165,200 including destination, while its EPA-estimated range rises to 249 miles.

The biggest change is behind the charging-door cover. Mercedes replaces the previous CCS1 arrangement with separate NACS and J1772 connectors, giving owners direct access to Tesla Superchargers without an adapter. The company has also reduced the claimed 10-to-80-percent DC charging time from 32 minutes to 29 minutes.

2027 G 580 Electric price and performance

The 2027 G 580 Electric carries a base price of $163,750 before its $1,450 destination charge. That brings the total to $165,200, up from $164,550 for the previous model year.

Mercedes-Benz has not changed the electric G-Class's mechanical package. Four electric motors continue to produce a combined 579 horsepower (432 kW) and 858 lb-ft of torque. The G 580 Electric reaches 60 mph in 4.6 seconds and has a 112-mph top speed, matching last year's figures.

The model's sales have trailed those of the combustion-powered G-Class. Mercedes had moved roughly 1,450 electric G 580s worldwide by the end of April 2025, compared with about 9,700 gas-powered G-Class models during the same period. The automaker also increased its customer discount on the EV from 5 percent to 10 percent last November.

Charging ports and DC fast-charging speed

The revised charging hardware gives the 2027 G 580 Electric a NACS port for DC fast charging and a separate J1772 port for Level 2 AC charging. That means Tesla Supercharger access is built in, while home and public AC charging use the dedicated J1772 connection.

Peak DC charging remains limited to 200 kW, but Mercedes lists a 10-to-80-percent session at 29 minutes. The onboard AC charger continues to support up to 9.6 kW. The SUV retains its 117-kWh battery, and a full charge using a 240-volt home connection takes an estimated 13.6 hours.

Range and availability

The EPA rates the 2027 G 580 Electric at 71 MPGe, an improvement over the previous model's 62 MPGe. Combined range increases from 239 miles to 249 miles.

Orders are now open in the United States through Mercedes-Benz's online build tool and dealer network. Options can push the price substantially higher; one dealer listing shows a configured 2027 G 580 e at $187,650. The updated electric G-Class therefore keeps its familiar boxy design and unchanged acceleration while adding easier fast-charger access, shorter DC stops and a modest price increase.
