Honda is bringing the 2027 Prelude Limited Edition to Europe this fall after receiving an “overwhelming response” to the special hybrid coupe in Japan. The appearance-focused model adds exclusive exterior and interior details, plus hardware upgrades that distinguish the Prelude from Honda’s regular hybrid lineup.

Honda has not disclosed European production numbers or pricing. For context, the standard Prelude starts at €49,500 in Germany, including that market’s 19 percent VAT. In the United States, the regular car starts at $43,695.

Exclusive Prelude Limited Edition styling

The Limited Edition is finished in Premium Crystal Garnet Metallic, a dark red exterior color created specifically for the model. Red accents appear on the bumpers, while black 19-inch wheels reveal Brembo brake calipers underneath.

Inside, Honda replaces the standard cabin treatment with a Bordeaux burgundy theme. The special edition also includes unique floor mats and red stitching across the steering wheel, center console, dashboard, front seats and door panels.

The Prelude logo is embroidered into the dashboard. Honda says the detail is intended to give each car the impression of being “hand-signed,” although the personalization comes through the embroidered logo and additional red trim rather than an individual signature.

Hybrid powertrain with Type R-inspired hardware

The source does not provide new power or acceleration figures for the Limited Edition, and Honda has not indicated that the special model receives a more powerful engine. Instead, its mechanical upgrades focus on handling and braking.

The Prelude borrows several components from the Civic Type R, including adaptive dampers, wider front and rear tracks, and a dual-pinion electronic power steering system. Its Brembo front brakes are also larger than those fitted to the standard Civic.

Honda’s S+ Shift system debuted in the Prelude before spreading to the regular Civic. The technology simulates an eight-speed automatic transmission, including downshift blips, rev matching and gear holding, despite the car’s hybrid powertrain.

European pricing and availability

The European-market 2027 Prelude Limited Edition will arrive this fall, but Honda has not yet said how many examples it will build or what they will cost. The Japanese version is priced at 6,306,300 yen, equivalent to approximately $40,000 or €35,300 at current exchange rates. The Japanese car is otherwise described as identical, aside from its right-hand-drive layout.

Honda has ruled out a Prelude Type R, a cheaper entry-level trim and a conventional manual transmission. That leaves the Limited Edition positioned primarily as a more exclusive-looking version of the hybrid coupe rather than a higher-performance derivative.

Honda Racing Corporation has shown a more aggressive Prelude Performance Parts concept, with those parts expected to enter production. For now, however, the Limited Edition represents the most exclusive factory Prelude available when it reaches European buyers.
