Ford is updating the F-150 for 2027 with a larger base engine, broader availability for its V8 and refreshed styling. The changes arrive ahead of the next-generation F-150, which is still a few years away, while the current truck gains a new Carhartt package that can be ordered now.

New 3.0-liter base engine

The 2027 F-150’s new standard engine is a 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6, replacing the previous 2.7-liter EcoBoost. Although the larger engine shares the same core architecture, output remains unchanged at 325 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque.

Ford chief program engineer Kelly Kohlstrand said the additional displacement is intended to provide a better everyday driving experience. The new engine becomes the entry point for the F-150 range, while the rest of the conventional powertrain lineup carries over.

5.0-liter V8 reaches more trims

Ford is also expanding the availability of its 400-horsepower 5.0-liter V8. For 2027, buyers can choose the V8 on the King Ranch and Platinum trims, making it available throughout the lineup from XL through Platinum.

The 3.5-liter EcoBoost and 3.5-liter PowerBoost hybrid remain available. The PowerBoost continues with 425 hp and 570 lb-ft of torque. Performance variants retain their existing engines as well: the F-150 Raptor continues with the high-output 3.5-liter EcoBoost, while the Raptor R keeps its supercharged 5.2-liter V8.

Updated styling and Carhartt package

The XLT, Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum receive redesigned grilles and wheels. Ford says the new elements use a wider split-bar design, with matching themes carried into the wheel styling.

The new 2027 F-150 Carhartt package is available on 4x4 XLT Crew Cab models for $4,195. It adds anodized wheels and trim, Carhartt graphics and a branded spray-in bedliner. The cabin gets a two-tone interior, embroidered Carhartt logos on the seats and rear map pockets, plus special stitching on the steering wheel and door panels. A full-color Carhartt logo appears on the engine.

Price and availability

Ford says the 2027 F-150 starts at $40,585 including the $2,795 destination charge. That price applies to the rear-wheel-drive XL Regular Cab and is $500 higher than before.

The F-150 Carhartt can be ordered now, with deliveries expected to begin early next year. Its stated starting price is $62,660 plus destination. If the $2,795 destination charge remains unchanged from 2026, the package-equipped truck would start at $65,455. Ford is expected to release a complete pricing breakdown before the broader lineup goes on sale.
