Jeep has opened orders for the 2027 Cherokee Trailhawk, transforming its compact hybrid SUV with hardware designed for serious off-road driving. The Trailhawk starts at $44,625 including the $1,995 destination charge, with production scheduled to begin later this year at Stellantis’ Toluca Assembly Complex in Mexico.

Unlike a cosmetic appearance package, the Trailhawk adds a two-speed transfer case, a locking rear axle, increased ground clearance, all-terrain tires and additional underbody protection. It retains the Cherokee’s turbocharged hybrid powertrain, giving buyers off-road capability without abandoning the model’s efficiency or family-focused equipment.

Powertrain and off-road specifications

The Trailhawk uses the standard Cherokee’s turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder hybrid system. Jeep rates output at 210 horsepower and estimates fuel economy at 31 mpg combined.

Jeep says the Trailhawk has best-in-class approach, breakover and departure angles, along with the only 24-inch water-fording rating in its class. Its suspension uses unique spring and damper tuning in combination with the lift, increasing the Cherokee’s Ramp Travel Index by 45 points compared with other Cherokee models.

The standard four-wheel-drive system is Jeep’s Active Drive II with Lock Mode and a two-speed power transfer unit. Jeep describes the latter as the only system of its kind in the class among off-road SUVs. Five drive modes are included: Auto, Sport, Snow, Sand/Mud and Rock.

Steel skid plates cover the front axle, wiring and fuel tank, while the hybrid battery receives additional protection. A Trailering Package is available for buyers who want the equipment needed to tow up to the full 3,500-pound capacity.

Trailhawk design and cabin technology

The Cherokee Trailhawk gets a distinct front fascia with a gloss-black upper section, red tow hooks at both ends of the bumper and a Trailhawk hood graphic intended to reduce glare. Buyers can choose between two unique 17-inch wheel designs, both fitted with 245/65R17 Nexen Rodian ATX all-terrain tires.

Inside, Mantis Green upholstery, red stitching and embossed Trailhawk logos establish the model’s identity. An aluminum finish surrounds the shift dial, while the transmission dial receives a red bezel.

Standard technology includes a 10.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch central touchscreen running Jeep’s latest UConnect infotainment system. The interface also includes off-road-specific features.

Price, options and availability

Jeep is taking orders now for the 2027 Cherokee Trailhawk. The three available option packages are the Sun and Sound Package, with a dual-pane sunroof and premium Alpine audio; the Trailering Package; and the Advanced Pro Tech Group, which adds ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, front and rear camera washers and a 360-degree camera system.
